How to Find Crypto Squeeze Candidates

A squeeze candidate is a symbol whose price volatility has compressed and may move quickly in one direction. Do not rely on compression alone; read OI, volume, funding, and liquidation risk together.

Volatility Compression

A narrowing price range with falling volume can look like stored energy, but not every compression leads to a large move.

If volume expands after compression and price breaks out of the range, the candidate can move higher in priority.

OI and Funding

Rising OI during compression can mean positions are building. If funding is skewed to one side, liquidation risk grows if the breakout fails.

Compression with falling OI can be an uninterested range, so volume recovery needs confirmation.

After the Breakout

After a squeeze breakout, check whether CVD follows in the same direction and whether liquidations concentrate on one side.

Separate a broad market volatility shock or news event from symbol-specific position crowding.

Review checklist

  • Did price range and volume compress together?
  • Is OI building position pressure?
  • Are funding and long/short ratio skewed to one side?
  • Do CVD and liquidation data confirm direction after breakout?
